PANJIM: Accused in the Mapusa Court bribery case, Tilu Aroskar, who was trapped while accepting a bribe by Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) last week, has moved for anticipatory bail in the Special Court, and the hearing is scheduled on January 18.
ACB officials said Aroskar has been admitted in a government hospital since the day of the raid (Friday) and there was no opportunity to take him in custody.
ACB sources said that the Special Judicial Magistrate of Mapusa may also come under scanner during the course of investigation but this will be revealed only on custody of the accused.
A Chapora-based activist, who is the complainant in the case, said he has handed over all the audio recordings of negotiations to ACB.
Aroskar, who is a peon of Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) attached with Court D, was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 200 to settle the fine of violation of MV Act.
As per the complaint with ACB, the complainant had already paid a portion of the bribe amount earlier and the peon again asked for Rs 200.
