PANJIM: Percept Group, organisers of Sunburn electronic dance music (EDM) festival have refused to pay the deposit in the High Court of Bombay at Goa even as they have decided to drop Goa as the venue to host the mega annual event.
The High Court has reserved its order in response to the petition filed by Percept Live that challenged the additional demand made by the Goa government for police security and traffic bandobast provided prior to the 2014 events.
When the petition came up for hearing on Tuesday, the Court observed that the plea will be heard if the company deposits the billed amount with the court. Percept’s counsel insisted that the government adjust the dues of Rs 5 crore paid earlier.
Challenging the revised bills, Percept contended that the subcommittee had illegally raised the bills without hearing the company. Their counsel further submitted that about Rs 5 crore, including security deposit is with the government, which can be adjusted against the police bandobast and traffic management dues.
The government contended that even after adjusting the deposits, the company needs to pay approximately Rs 65 lakh.
The court has reserved its order for Wednesday.
