PANJIM: The Additional Sessions Court, Margao has called for a report from Colvale Jail regarding an attack on a murder undertrial in the jail premises. During a virtual hearing held recently, accused Amzad Khan alas Nigro told the court that he fears for his life after being assaulted by two persons namely Manjunath and Shankar.
Khan is charged with murder reported way back in the year 2013. Lodged at Colvale Central Jail, when he was produced through video conference for the virtual hearing, he stated he has been assaulted by the two men. In view of this disclosure, Additional District Judge – 3 P M Shinde has called for a report from the jail’s superintendent to verify the fact.
The report is expected to be submitted on July 1 which is when the court has scheduled the next date of hearing at around 10 am.
