Single-day COVID-19 cases fell short of a double century as 198 cases, the highest so far, were registered on Wednesday with 67 recoveries.
The State now has 2951 confirmed cases and 1674 recoveries. The active cases are 1259 with 18 deaths.
The DHS bulletin says there were 6064 samples tested, from which 2374 were negative, 198 positive and 3492 reports are awaited.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant who announced a three-day lockdown along with Janta Curfew said the lockdown may help flatten the curve.
On the rising deaths, he said that all deaths were due to co-morbid conditions except one. “In that one case too, the patient was very sick and waited till he felt breathless for testing and when brought to hospital, it was too late,” Sawant said.
He urged people to test even for the slightest of symptoms.
