PANJIM: There is no flattening of curve for Goa as COVID-19 cases continue to surge with another 476 persons declared infected by the deadly virus on Friday, taking the State’s confirmed case tally close to 11,000. Two deaths were also reported for the day along with 245 recoveries.
Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik and his wife, who had tested positive for COVID-19, two days ago, were shifted to a private hospital as they developed a fever. Both were initially under home isolation.
Panjim continues to remain a major hot spot, with 18 new cases being reported. The city, which has been reporting cases on a daily basis, has till date 188 active patients, spread across Altinho, St Inez, Miramar, Ribandar, Caranzalem, etc.
The State’s confirmed cases are 10,970 while active cases as on date are 3,720 and 7,157 patients have recovered and 93 deaths have been reported.
As per the health bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) both deaths were due to co-morbid conditions. The deceased
include a 45-year-old man from Mandur, admitted in ESI hospital Margao and another 49-year-old man from Housing Board Sanquelim, admitted in Goa Medical College and Hospital.
Of the 3707 samples tested for coronavirus, 476 were declared positive, while 2451 are negative. The test results of 780 people are still awaited.
Moreover, there are 100 patients in hospital isolation, while another 308 have opted for home isolation.
Total 17 interstate travelers are in home quarantine and one in facility quarantine.
