COVID Care Centre with lockdown a better solution, argue Ponda locals

PONDA: Ponda Market and surrounding panchayats have implemented lockdown to contain COVID cases, but many locals including sarpanchas feel that besides lockdown instead of home isolation immediate setting up of COVID Care Centre could prevent spread of the virus.

Kavlem sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar and Bandora sarpanch Rajesh Naik argue that that if COVID Care Centres are set up it could save lot of lives and government should set it up at every village so that COVID positive people could be detached from the society for 14 days.

“Last time we used to get report of COVID positive people in panchayat areas but now government stopped providing information about daily positivity report since past many days. We too are in dark about who are positive and at home isolation,” said both sarpanchas.

Bandora sarpanch also pointed out that COVID positive symptomatic patients at home isolation should be monitored keeping at COVID Care Centres instead as there is no monitoring system otherwise can’t be watched every minute whether are going to hotel, milk or vegetable shop for buying goods and spreading COVID. Kavelm sarpanch suggested it should be immediately introduced by using closed school building, unused halls in Panchayat area.
