New cases detected in Bicholim

BICHOLIM: The first COVID-19 positive case was found in the heart of Bicholim while two more cases were also identified in Bicholim. 

While the first case caused panic amongst the people, the second case is that of a driver of a company based in Ladfem, Bicholim. 

The third case was the son of a person from Sarvan who had earlier tested positive. However the other family members have tested negative. 

Women from Mangor hill complain about their plight, FINANCIAL LOSSES 

VASCO: Women from Mangor hill containment zone are likely to stage their protest near Varunapuri gate once again to reiterate their demand of being freed from the containment zone. As they had protested on Wednesday, they have complained about that they have been left with no money to spend and that they are facing various other difficulties. 

Responding to this, Deputy Collector of Mormugao Sachin Dessai, said that all grievances faced by the people from the containment zone with regards to the supply of essential items and services are being fulfilled by the local administration. He added that the medical team is still collecting the swab samples from Mangor Hill.

He added that decisions regarding the realignment of the containment zone etc are to be taken by the district collector. 

Curtorim ZP, panch, locals call for better infra at PHC

MARGAO: The Curtorim panch members, Zilla Panchayat member along with the people of Curtorim requested the Government to renovate and enhance the infrastructure and staff at the Curtorim Primary Health Centre (PHC). 

ZP Moreno Rebello, Panchas Rupesh Naik, Simon Barretto and locals on Thursday felicitated the doctors and medical staff at the Curtorim PHC for the extensive work they put into the Curtorim taluka villages and also in the containment zone. They thanked Dr. Vallabh Nadkarni for having undertaken the contact tracing, sample collections and containing the affected areas with full dedication, which has reduced the number of cases to 17 from the 31 cases earlier. 

“There is a need for staff and also improvement of the infrastructure at the PHC as the Center caters to at least 57 thousand people in its jurisdiction” said ZP Moreno Rebello.

A local person from Curtorim while speaking reminded the people of the State and the villagethat ‘the public has to fight the virus and not the patients affected’; while thanking the doctors and staff for continuing to fight against COVID-19.
