PANJIM: The COVID graph is ascending to new heights with Goa registering 1,789 new cases in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate stood at 23.25 per cent on Saturday, which was 21.72 per cent the previous day.
The active cases breached the 7,000-mark and stood at 7,549. The recovery rate of 170 in the last 24 hours witnessed a marginal improvement. However, the gap between the daily cases and recovery continues to widen.
One death was reported on Saturday. The State is reporting a surge in cases since last month even as no night curfew is imposed despite the first recommendation by the Expert Committee in a meeting held before the peak season.
