VASCO: Selfies with “V” (Victory) gesture by some patients at a COVID hospital posted on social media platforms on Saturday have irked the Vasco residents, who slammed them for making a “mockery” of the frontline warriors such as the doctors, police and other administrative officials, who are tirelessly working to defeat coronavirus.

Angry residents criticised such action by the patients, who are benefitting from the best of health services in the State.

On Saturday, Vasco locals were shocked to see some selfies being circulated on social media platforms reportedly of the patients making a victorious gesture.

Netizens and people from Vasco have termed this as a “mockery” of the frontline warriors such as the doctors, police and other administrative officials who are working to defeat COVID-19.

Preetam Queloskar said, “The patients, who are admitted in the COVID hospital and availing medical services, should have stayed away from doing such things. This is a clear cut mockery of our government as well as frontline warriors such as the doctors, who are sacrificing so much to save such foolish and ungrateful people. I feel strict action should be taken against such people, who behave like they are on a picnic trip when they are in hospital.”

Vikram Sarmalkar, social activist from Vasco said “The action of posting selfies by patients, who are admitted in COVID hospital is clear mockery of the system, which is actually trying to save their lives.”

“It is very sad to see that people outside are living in fear of COVID, everyone is strictly following guidelines related to coronavirus. Here some patients, who are admitted in hospital, are posting some pictures which are not tolerated and strict action needs to be taken so that it doesn’t repeat,” he added.

Peter Andrade, activist from Vasco said, “The pictures posted by COVID patients show them without masks, is this isolation? Will it not spread among them? This attitude shows how these infected persons must have behaved while they moved around before being detected.”
