MARGAO: South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), besides ESI and other private hospitals are witnessed a decline in the admission of COVID positive patients in the last few days. On Tuesday evening, nearly 251 in SGDH and 70 beds in ESI Hospital vacant along with51 in private hospitals of Margao lay vacant, according to tate government portal of COVID beds availability. Margao also witnessed a decline in COVID positive active cases for the last six days.
The SGDH has a total bed capacity of 568, whereas ESI has a provision of 235 beds. As of May 25 evening, the vacant number of beds in SGDH was 251 and in ESI it’s 72.
Recently, there was such a bed crunch that patirnts had to literally struggle to get one in both the government hospitals of Margao. They were even found sleeping on the floor of the district hospital in order to take treatment for the Coronavirus. Now, the availability of beds is increasing day by day.
Apart from the above mentioned hospitals, another nine private hospitals in the town have nearly 51 vacant beds on Tuesday evening.
The government portal states that out of 16 beds dedicated to only COVID patients, 9 are vacant in Classic hospital at Margao. Besides, in Aster hospital, 8 beds are vacant out of 16. Mother Care Hospital, which has an allotment of the maximum number of beds (30) to Covid patients, now have seven vacant.
Horizon eight and Royal hospitals have seven vacant beds. Besides, Victor hospital, having provision of 27 beds for Covid patients have 5 vacant. Trimurti and Imperial Plus hospital has 3 beds vacant, while the Covid ward of Borkar Nursing Home has 2 vacant beds.
On Tuesday, Margao recorded 1480 COVID positive active cases. While Curtorim recorded 461 and 477 active cases under Loutolim health centre. Besides, Primary Health Centre, Navelim recorded 233 Covid positive active cases. There are 211 active cases under the health centre, Chinchinim.
