COVID takes five more as 339 new cases recorded

PANJIM: Five more COVID-19 patients died on Tuesday taking the tally of persons succumbing to the virus to 116. Three out of five men who died had co-morbid conditions. Two men are from Aquem Baixo and Ponda aged 57 years, while the other three were aged 75 years from Margao, 72 years from Borim and 66 years of Baina.

Department also indicates that there were 339 positive cases and 298 recoveries in the last 24 hours. This takes the confirmed cases to 12,333 while active cases stand at 3861 and the count of cured patients rise to 8356 as on Tuesday.

A total of 231 persons were home quarantined while 95 suspects were admitted to hospital isolation on Tuesday, whereas 36 persons have been quarantined across various residencies/hotels. 

The Urban Health Centre at Margao continues to lead with active cases with 519 as on Tuesday followed by 365 cases at UHC Vasco, 223 at Primary Health Centre in Chimbel and 208 at UHC Ponda. The Panjim UHC has so far reported 189 cases with nine cases recorded on Tuesday.
