MARGAO: After the installation of CCTV cameras on the Cavelossim-Assolna bridge, the village panchayat of Cavelossim requested the police to crackdown on antisocial activities on the bridge immediately.
In a letter to the Superintendent of Police, South Goa, Sarpanch Dixon Vaz complained that the Cavelossim-Assolna Bridge has become a hub for anti-social activities such as drinking and eating, resulting in a nuisance for road-users.
“Most nuisance makers are parking their vehicles on the bridge, inconveniencing commuters,” said Vaz. The panchayat has requested the police to start issuing fines and challans to the violators after nabbing them using the CCTV footage.
The Sarpanch said that the police are doing their best by patrolling but stricter action needs to be taken.
