In a concerted effort to curb the activities of illegal touts plaguing the tourism industry, the police in Goa initiated a crackdown and successfully booked 16 such cases. These touts had been enticing tourists with offers of various illegal services.
Goa, renowned for its pristine beaches and vibrant culture, attracts a significant number of tourists each year. However, several complaints have surfaced regarding the unscrupulous activities of touts offering illicit services to unsuspecting visitors. These services ranged from unauthorized tours to other illegal activities.
In response to these grievances, law enforcement authorities took swift action against the illegal touts. The individuals involved in these cases were apprehended and subsequently presented before the Directorate of Tourism in Panaji. To deter such activities, a collective fine amounting to Rs. 80,000 was imposed on these touts.
The crackdown signifies the state’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of tourists while promoting responsible and ethical tourism practices in this popular travel destination.
