Crackdown on Overcharging at Colva Beach: 3 Vendors Booked, Ongoing Vigilance Announced

Following numerous complaints about overcharging by ice cream sellers at Colva Beach, Legal Metrology department conducted inspections on Wednesday, to curb the malpractice. The operation resulted in the booking of three individuals for overcharging customers, while others fled the scene to evade scrutiny.

Nitin Purushan, of Legal Metrology Deaprtment stated, “We had received complaints about overcharging by ice cream sellers at Colva Beach, so today we conducted inspections. We have booked three people for overcharging customers. The crackdown will continue, and we will maintain a close check on such activities.”

The enforcement drive is part of ongoing efforts to ensure fair pricing and protect consumers from exploitative practices. Recognizing the need for public cooperation, the department has launched a dedicated phone number, 9403301977, for citizens to log complaints related to overcharging or any other violations.

“We encourage the public to use the provided phone number (9403301977) to report any instances of overcharging or other violations they may come across. Your cooperation is essential in maintaining fair practices and ensuring the well-being of consumers,” urged Nitin Purushan.
