On Friday, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, who inspected the site along with Kerya-Khandepar locals, has demanded that the National Highways Authority of India should urgently conduct the inspection of the road before any untoward incident happens.

Naik said, “The work at Kerya Highway is substandard and that the government should conduct inquiry into it.”

“Last year too there were cracks developed at the roadside. The road has been constructed by land filling and therefore the government should find an urgent solution to the problem,” he added.

“PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar should conduct inspection of this road. If the roadside collapse then it could prove disaster and even can collapse on the houses.”

“Further there are several buses, trucks moving on the highway, which have the risk of causing accidents. Before the incident like Pernem Highway occurs, the government should look into matter and find a solution,” he added.
