VASCO: Taking serious note on the sudden rise in dengue cases in port town, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida on Thursday directed the Vasco health officials and the Mormugao Municipal Council to conduct extensive drives to create door-to-door dengue awareness among the citizens besides taking up spraying and fogging of chemicals more regularly in all suspected areas.
The decision was taken in the emergency meeting called by the MLA in the Mormugao Deputy Collector Gaurish Sankhalwakar’s office. MMC chairperson Deepak Naik, MMC, health department, sewage department officials and others attend the meet.
“We have decided to launch a joint door-to-door campaign by health and MMC staff. We have asked the team to create dengue awareness and at the same time, another team will take up the work of spraying and fogging of chemicals on same day. I will offer my support to the team to ensure that dengue virus gets arrested completely,” Almeida said.
