CREDAI hails TCP moves on approvals, transparency

MARGAO:  The real estate business community has welcomed the recent decisions taken by Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane.

The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) Goa said, “It appreciates the initiatives taken by the TCP Minister and congratulates him on the actions taken by him.”

“The decisions of appointing notary architects and deemed approvals in a specified timeframe is laudable. We feel this will greatly reduce the time taken for approvals and bring in the much needed transparency in decision making. The onus of complying with the law now solely rests with the project proponents,” Nilesh Salkar, president, CREDAI Goa, said.

“The TCP departments and the PDAs should play a larger role in adding value to the city infrastructure and urban spaces. Involvement of reputed town planners will improve quality of life in our cities,” he added.

“We request the government to fast track actions like these in the panchayats and municipalities to further increase the ease of doing business in the real estate sector. We look forward to streamlining the process for release of service connections like water, electricity and sewerage. We are happy that the government is acting on our suggestions to reform the mutation partition and conversion sanad procedures,” CREDAI Goa added.

Former CREDAI Goa president Jagannath alias Desh Prabhudessai concurred and said, “We 100 per cent welcome what the TCP minister has taken up and the whole housing industry and all members, CREDAI, will always support such moves.”

“Ultimately what happens is that the ease of doing business is being taken up by the government which is definitely a welcome decision. See, because of the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA), we have specific time frames to abide by,” Prabhudessai said.

Both Salkar and Prabhudesai also backed Rane’s decision on 16 B.
