MARGAO: While commissioning the desilting of creeks and gutters in Fatorda, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai announced plans to cover the open drain from Colva Circle to Ravindra Bhavan circle with small bridge-like structures that can be removed and refitted.
The drain where the work was to be commissioned looks dirty with algae and plants and Vijai suggested the covering of the entire drain so that people do not throw any waste in it and it remains clean.
We will construct tiny bridge-like structures to cover the drain so that they can be removed to clean the drains as and when required and then fitted again, he said, adding that the covered drain would also be useful for people to watch Carnival or Shigmo parades.
Work on desilting ten creeks/gutters in the Fatorda constituency commenced on Tuesday.
The creeks to be desilted are the Ravindra Bhavan to Colva Circle creek that leads to River Sal, the Comba creek from Souza Bakery leading to river Sal at Mungul, creek from Murida at Naag temple leading to Fatorda lake, creek from Gogleshwar to Green Amaze at housing board and creeks at Gaulliwado in Fatorda.
The other five are the one near Pimenta factory, at Igrezwada being the church leading to Citi Café, near Sharda Classic, at Borda behind Holy Spirit Church leading to Ravindra Bhawan and near new Collectorate building.
