PANJIM, MARCH 22
Top officers of the Crime Branch were seen at the Anti-Narcotic Cell office at the Police Headquarters, here, on Monday, to take stock of the narcotic drugs stored in a locker room housed inside as part of their investigation into the police-drug nexus.
Last week saw the arrest of PI Ashish Shirodkar and four other cops after startling revelations by Israeli drug dealer Atala whose conversation video on youtube.com spilled the beans exposing the chinks in ANC’s functioning.
Atala had pointed an accusing finger at then ANC PI Shirodkar stating the cop supplied drugs to him sourced from the ANC locker room to be pushed into the market. He said drugs sealed by the court were stolen from the ANC lockers and given to him by the PI.
Today, Crime Branch officers Chandrakant Salgaonkar and Sunita accompanied by DySP ANC Naresh Mhamal went through some files taking stock inventory of the narcotic substances inside the locker room, which sources said was opened.
When contacted, DySP Salgaonkar said it wouldn’t be right to talk on the matter as he still in the middle of the investigation.
