BICHOLIM: The Animal Rescue Squad (ARS) rescued an eight-foot female crocodile from a trap laid for a wild boar at Maite-Assonora.
According to ARS Chief Amrut Singh, some persons who had gone fishing noticed the crocodile stranded in the trap laid alongside the river at Maite on Thursday.
“While returning home, they reported the matter to an employee from the Assonora water treatment plant, Pratap Bahawlikar, who in turn alerted the ARS,” said Singh.
The ARS team consisting of Santosh Naik, Ajinkya Dhond, Aniket Chanekar, Ashirwad Amonkar and Amol Sawant rushed to the spot and rescued the female crocodile. The crocodile was later handed over to the forest department.
