PANJIM: As per the preliminary reports that were submitted by the Zonal Agricultural Officers (ZAO), the State Agricultural Department has pegged the losses to agricultural crops due to Cyclone Tauktae to be approximately to the tune of Rs 3 crore.
This was confirmed by State Agriculture Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, on Wednesday.
He said that the ZAO had visited the affected fields and areas since Sunday and had submitted their preliminary reports while the detailed reports from the officials are expected to be submitted by the end of this week, in three days time.
“Those who have been affected will be provided compensation as early as possible,” said Kavlekar.
The Dy CM also explained that for those farmers, who do not have Krishi Cards, the government is contemplating in providing them the compensation through the Chief Minister Relief Fund and Shetkari Adhar Nidhi Scheme.
