PANJIM: Sakhali Municipal Council Chairperson Rajesh Sawal on Friday filed a police complaint against the Chief Officer for allegedly assaulting him. On the other hand, the Chief Officer also filed a counter complaint of verbal abuse against the chairperson.
The incident occurred after the chairperson called the Chief Officer Chirag Shirgaonkar to his chamber and questioned him on the banners that were erected at the North Goa District BJP meeting held at the Sakhali municipal hall on Friday.
Sawal reportedly asked the chief officer to ask the organisers to obtain permission and pay the tax for the banners used during the meeting. To this, the chief officer replied that he would survey the banners.
Sources informed that a verbal spat started between both of them over this conversation. Sawal has alleged that the chief officer intimidated and pushed him and as a result he suffered some injuries on the back.
The chief officer has meanwhile alleged that Sawal verbally abused him. Both the complaints have been filed at the Bicholim police station and investigation is in progress.
