VASCO: One person was killed after being hit by a passenger train at Shantinagar Vasco on Friday morning.
According to railway police, they received information that a body was lying near the railway track at 9 am. A Police team was rushed to the site and identified the deceased as one Afroj Imtiaz Mansuri (22), a resident of Shantinagar in Vasco.
Police investigation revealed that the victim, working as labourer had left his house in the morning to go to his workplace taking a shortcut across the railway track. “Likewise, every day, he was walking on the railway track to go to his workplace. However, today he was hit by a train. The impact was such that Afroj sustained serious injuries to his body and died on the spot,” police said.
The Vasco railway police shifted the body to Sub District hospital at Ponda and arrangements for an autopsy have been mad at Hospicio, on Saturday. Police have registered the case as unnatural death.
