OLD GOA: A resident of St Estevam has accused various officials of failing to enforce CRZ rules in connection with illegal sand mining along the banks of the Mandovi River.
In a complaint to Old Goa Police, J Bismark Dias complained that in 2011, officers holding position in government had failed to mandate and monitor the enforcement of CRZ specification. Dias further stated that the accused officers “connived and conspired with each other and undertook the tendering process of implementation of CRZ scheme in an illegal manner.”
Old Goa Police registered the case under varios sections of PC Act and Goa Prevention of Illegal Mining Transportation and Storage of Minerals Rules 2004.
