PANJIM: Goa For Giving Trust, in association with Goa Tourism, will host a three-day culinary event titled ‘Taste of Goa’ in the State capital from Friday, in an attempt to diversify brand Goa.
Goa For Giving Trust Chairman Armando Gonsalves told the media on Wednesday that the festival combined with entertainment shows, is an attempt to promote culinary tourism in the State. One of its main objectives is to change the axis on which tourism rests in Goa, he said.
“Goa is at the crossroads… tourism arrivals, as we hitherto know, are set to take a beating this year and we welcome it, since it gives us a chance to upgrade Goa’s thinking as well as our delivery,” he said. This, he added, is also an opportunity to showcase Goa on the world map as the centre for food, heritage, music and culture among other things.
BBC’s Food Personality of the Year, Chef Cyrus Todiwala will lead a five-member team from England in preparing a variety of Goan cuisine at Gracia de Orta garden near Panjim Church Square.
Commissioner of the Corporation of the City of Panaji Sanjit Rodrigues said such entertainment festivals are a part of the Panjim master plan. “Holding such events is a part of the master plan in branding Panjim.
