VASCO: A culvert connecting residential area and Sancoale Industrial Estate was damaged at Zuarinagar while laying gas pipeline, on Friday morning.
Sancoale sarpanch said that the local people should not face any inconvenience due to the damaged culvert and made a demand that the gas pipeline contractor should rebuild the damaged culvert with RCC.
The incident caused panic among people who later informed the local Panch Arish Kadar. Kadar then informed Sarpanch Girish Pillai, who carried out an inspection of the works.
Sarpanch Pillai after conducting the inspection of the site where the culvert was damaged informed the media persons that such kind of mistakes which may create inconvenience to the residents need to be avoided at all cost, although, the village panchayat is not against any sort of development which will benefit the people.
“The connecting link, the culvert, was damaged and therefore the residents from nearby areas were annoyed. If heavy vehicles such as trucks pass over this culvert then it might collapse and the vehicles may fall on the neighbouring houses,” said Pillai.
He further informed that he had written to the concerned departments about this incident and has demanded the contractor should rebuild the culvert with RCC.
