Cunchelim man’s death due to head injuries: Post mortem

MAPUSA: The post mortem report of 49-year-old Rajesh Shetkar, who was set ablaze on Monday, revealed that the deceased had sustained severe head injuries which led to his death.

Sources informed that a month back Shetkar had stolen a bike from Mapusa Hutatma Chawk area. He was caught by the police, but instead of admitting the theft Shetkar alleged that Salim Abdul Nadaf was also involved in the theft. This made Nadaf keep a grudge on Shetkar and prompted him (Nadaf) to kill Shetkar.  Meanwhile, the two accused were produced before the JMFC Court and remanded to seven days police custody.

It can be recalled that on Monday, Mapusa police had arrested two residents of Cunchelim-Mapusa, Rupesh Mahale (32) and Salim Abdul Nadaf (24), for allegedly murdering Shetkar by setting him ablaze. Shetkar’s body was found lying in an isolated place near a temple in Karaswada. Mahale and Nadaf admitted killing Shetkar whilst being interrogated by the police.
