Cuncolim council holds meet after four months, takes no major decision

CUNCOLIM: At last after a gap of four months Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) meeting was held, probably the last council meeting before the municipality elections.

At the council meeting, no major decisions were taken however. The council was supposed to take decision on proposal of ICICI bank regarding Swatch Bharat Yojna. ICICI bank has given proposal to fund the council’s ‘Clean Cuncolim, Green Cuncolim mission’. This proposal could not get the green signal due to absence of bank officers.
Besides this, the council also renewed workers agreement and also resolved to construct sulabh toilets in the market.
It maybe recalled that recently, Cuncolim councillors expressed displeasure at Chairperson Landry Mascarenhas and Chief Officer Pandharinath Naik for failure to conduct bimonthly council meeting. The councillors had  alleged that Mascarenhas and Naik were not taking the council into confidence and that all the development activities of the council have come to a halt.
