Valmiki Naik, ad-hoc Secretary for the party said, “We are heartened by the Special Public Prosecutor Adv Rajeev Gomes’ legal opinion on the Special Court’s order granting bail to former CM Digambar Kamat in the Louis Berger bribery case.”
They said that by calling the order ‘perverse’ and ‘illegal’, Gomes gave salient reasons as to why the order did not meet accepted and expected standards and practice in criminal law.
They echoed the aphorism that ‘Not only must justice be done; it must also be seen to be done’, adding that despite circumstances and evidences being similar in case of both Churchill Alemao and Kamat, the bail granted to Kamat was a disappointment to all.
Naik, however, reiterated their appreciation of Crime Branch’s efforts led by SP Karthik Kashyap “including immediately approaching the High Court of Bombay at Goa to challenge the order. AAP Goa also repeats its warning to the government against making any arbitrary changes to the investigation team and the prosecution team,” he said.
