MARGAO: Assessment of loss of household items in Tuesday’s flooding in 31 out of the total 60 houses at Sanvorcotto-Cuncolim has been pegged at Rs 9.41 lakh.
While the PWD is assessing the loss caused by damage to compound walls, the talathis will submit the report on the remaining 29 houses by Friday.
Salcete Mamlatdar Triveni Velip told Herald that she has recommended 31 cases to the District Collector for compensation amounting to Rs 9.41 lakh on account of damage to household items. “Our field staff has submitted that the affected people have lost their food grains, cement, TVs and other items in Tuesday’s floods. We have done the assessment and submitted the same to the District Collector for approval,” she said.
Replying to a question whether the affected people will be fully compensated by the authorities, the Mamlatdar said that only the Collector is empowered to take a call on the compensation to the affected families.
The Salcete Mamlatdar said she would get the final report on the losses by Friday.
