CUNCOLIM: In a tragic accident reported at Paryebandh near Balli on Saturday, a resident of Cuncolim was killed and two other car occupants sustained serious injuries when the driver lost control over and rammed the vehicle into a roadside tree.
According to available information, the accident took place at around 3.15 am on Saturday when the driver lost control over his swift car after negotiating a sharp curve at Paryebandh near Balli and hit a roadside tree.
The impact was such that Afrid Sayyed, 20, a resident of Josegal, Cuncolim who was occupying the front seat was killed on the spot, while the driver Mukesh Naik, a resident of Sanguem and working as a police constable attached to Maina Curtorim police station and Kritesh Gaonkar, a resident of Molkornem, a police constable attached to Cuncolim Police Station suffered serious injuries.
It is learnt that they were returning after attending a friend’s birthday party at Agonda.
Mahendra Faldesai, who resides near the accident spot, said he heard a loud sound at around 3.15am, and when he came out, he saw a car and the three occupants including the driver motionless. Mahendra said he immediately called up the emergency services.
Mukesh and Kritesh, who sustained multiple fractures, have been shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
