Raison Almeida, Chairman of GGF said that notification issued by the Collector Office, directing the police inspector of Traffic Cell, Margao to comply with the directions contained therein, has not been complied with till date, except for erecting a few signboards and some of the few which were erected, have also been removed and not replaced till date.

“As result of which, there are incidents of several road accidents taking place thereby creating a major traffic jam specially during peak hours of school and office timings, which causes a hindrance to the general public, and making it difficult for the school children to be in school on time”, said Almeida.

He further said that previously he had requested the concerned officials to look into the above matter and to enforce the above mentioned notification at the earliest, in order to avoid fatalities and accidents, and to enhance smooth flow of traffic. However, the traffic cell failed to act upon the same till date.

The implementation of proper traffic signboards needs prior and immediate attention to ensure proper flow of traffic and also, restricting the movement of heavy vehicles during the peak hours is of vital importance, he added.
