The Cuncolim Municipal Council has revoked the construction licence issued to Goan Marine Impex Private Limited, amid objections to the proposed fish processing plant in the Cuncolim Industrial Estate.
Cuncolim MLA and Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao, along with the former Chief Officer of the Cuncolim Municipality, said they had opposed the establishment of such a fish mill plant in the area.

They raised concerns about pollution from industries operating in the Cuncolim Industrial Estate and alleged that pollution from industrial activities could have serious implications for public health.
The concerns cited included ailments such as cancer, eye-related problems, kidney disorders and heart attacks, among other health conditions. These claims would require assessment by the relevant health and environmental authorities.
