MARGAO: The Cuncolim Municipal Council on Tuesday finally gave its official nod for the commercial complex project mooted by the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA).
CMC Chairperson Landry Mascarenhas told the media after the special meeting on Tuesday that the civic body has adopted a resolution to approve the proposal received from GSUDA to take up the commercial project.
The decision assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the rejection of the GSUDA project by the Civic body during the tenure of former chairperson Devendra Desai.
Landry said the CMC would soon forward the Council resolution to the GSUDA to take up the commercial project on the acquired land. “The project will also help bring all government departments in Cuncolim under one roof,” he said.
Meanwhile, the CMC has given its approval for the sterilisation of stray dogs in the town by Mission Rabies. In fact, personnel of the Mission Rabies descended in the town on Tuesday and carried out the exercise of dog catching for the purpose of sterilisation. “The Civic body has given the nod to spend the amount on the Mission Rabies team to carry out the work”, Landry added.
