CUNCOLIM: Voters of Quepem and Cuncolim constituencies along with the political leaders have termed the Goa Forward-BJP alliance as “unethical” and “immoral”.
According to Richard Dais, a voter from Cuncolim, the theme of Goa Forward Goem, Goenkar ani Goenkarponn has turn into Fot, Fotkire and Fotingponn.
“We had high expectations from Vijai. I was looking forward to this young leader but he sold us. The man who was always shouting at the top of his voice against the U turns made by the Parrikar and BJP has made a big Z turn,” said Vincent Almeida, a senior citizen expressing his anguish over the political development.
The voters in both constituencies say they have given a mandate against the BJP, they (BJP) have no moral right to form the government.
The voters especially the supporters of Congress have blamed their leaders for the infighting. How can a party who won 17 seats keep mum and a party which won just thirteen seats form the government? This is the mockery of democracy, said Vithoba Naik a Congress supporter.
Voters in Quepem constituency were expecting that their MLA Chandrakant Kavalekar would get a cabinet berth. Kavalekar has been appointed as Leader of Opposition but Quepem residents are unhappy and blame Congress High Command and leaders such as Luizinho Faleiro, Digambar Kamat, Pratapsingh Rane and others for fighting among themselves for Chief Minister’s post.
Kushali Velip, a Congress supporter said, “What BJP and Vijai have done is that they have committed the biggest sin and that they will pay for it.”
Cuncolim MLA-elect Clafacio Dais said, “What BJP has done is an insult to democracy. They wanted to grab power by all means. It was a mandate against the BJP. What right does BJP have to rule Goa and those who were talking against BJP during elections have joined hands with it for their personal benefits.”
Quepem MLA and Congress party CLP leader Chandrakant alias Babu Kavalekar too termed the alliance as “undemocratic” and “unethical”.
