CUNCOLIM: Agitated Cuncolkars have complained to the Cuncolim Municipal Council against the ‘autocratic’ attitude of an engineer, while applying for a water connection.
Locals informed media persons that an Engineer, who looks the files of water connection in the Cuncolim municipal area has been insisting on attaching the photo of the house along with other required documents when applying for a water connection.
He also demands from the locals to get the assent of the Chief Officer on the photo of the house to confirm the house authenticity while applying for a water connection.
The said that the CO said he can only issue an NOC to the house owner after verifying the details.
There is no rule that the house photo has to be signed and verified by the CO to avail a water connection. Locals also brought the issue before the MLA, CMC chairperson and vice chairperson. Locals have alleged that the engineer is harassing them for no reason. In fact there are guidelines to issue water connections and electrical connection to every household without going into the legalities of construction.
The locals, who have applied for water connections, are seeking justice from the government.
