Curchorem-Cacora civic chief ousted

CURCHOREM, MARCH 24
Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson Abhay Khandekar was voted out of office by 10-0 votes.
A special meeting to decide the motion was convened at the municipal hall on Tuesday. Cuncolim Municipal Council Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes presided over the meeting.
The signatories to the motion included CCMC Vice Chairperson Rukmini Fatto Dessai, Paresh Bhende, Devu Naik, Cacius Fernandes, Nitin Kakodkar, Betty Pereira, Albert Fernandes, Aliza Fernandes, Maruti Naik and Pradip Naik.
The signatories had alleged that the chairperson misused the council vehicles and did not take them into confidence with regard to development works.
Abhay Khandekar and his wife, Councillor Abhita, abstained from voting at the meeting.
CCMC Chief Officer Satish Dessai was also present at the meeting.
