Curchorem-Cacora ex-chairperson joins Cong

PANJIM: Former Curchorem-Cacora chairperson and present councillor Balkrishna Hodarkar alias Pinty joined the Congress Party in the presence of party President Girish Chodankar, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and senior party leaders.

After joining the party, Hodarkar said that Minister (Nilesh Cabral) was interfering everywhere. There can be interference but forcible interference is bad, he said adding that he had joined the Congress Party unconditionally.

To a question, Hodarkar said that if given a ticket he will contest the upcoming elections and vowed that he will not defect if elected. He said that Anti-Defection Act has to be amended ensuring that the elected MLA or MP should continue in the party till completion of his/her five-year term.

Stating that no candidate has won the Curchorem for more than two term, Hodarkar said that he will work with all the party workers and supporters to wrest the seat.

Kamat and Chodankar said that Hodarkar will work in tandem with the party workers and work for the victory of Congress candidate in Curchorem constituency.
