Curchorem Fire Station rescues cattle from drowning in a well

CURCHOREM: The personnel from  Curchorem Fire and Emergency Services (CFES) recently rescued a stray cattle from drowning in the well situated in the railway yard at Curchorem.

According to locals the stray cattle were grazing around more than two metres deep well of Curchorem Railway Yard Spraying System (CRYSS) near the tile factory, Khamamoll-Curchorem. “While grazing on the unnatural hillock created by railway authorities, one of the cattle slipped and accidentally fell in the well and started drowning. After informing the CFES office about the incident, the personnel under the leadership of Sub Officer M S Velip reached on time at the site and rescued the cattle by using ropes with the help of some local youth.” informed local youth.

Speaking to Herald, Velip requested the railway authorities to seal both the unused wells as it can caused safety problems not only in case of street animals but nearby children too as they use the area to play. “Some time back we rescued similar cattle from other well in the yard. Today it is animal but next it could be anyone and therefore the concerned authority must take steps to prevent similar occurrences.” requested Velip
