Curchorem locals complain of unregulated trucks movement

The situation is made worse due to large movement of trucks carrying mineral ore which runs in a queue without maintaining the mandatory gaps in between making it difficult for the other commuters to use the road

SANGUEM: The locals residing in the vicinity of Pontemoll Curchorem and other neighbouring areas have complained of the unregulated traffic and movement of trucks carrying mineral ore at the Cada junction since last many days.

The situation is made worse due to large movement of trucks carrying mineral ore which runs in a queue without maintaining the mandatory gaps in between making it difficult for the other commuters to use the road.

A local, Sidesh Bhise, who had a narrow escape of being hit by a truck in the late evening hours of May 29, urged for deputation of more police force at the Cada junction in the interest and safety of the public.

Bhise while clarifying that he is not against the operation of the mining trucks demanded for some discipline in the movement of trucks as the situation at times is uncontrollable and needs proper system.

He demanded deputation of atleast two policemen on either side of the junction as the present posting of one policeman serves no purpose. He urged the local MLA Nilesh Cabral to instruct the police officials for the deputation of additional force at the junction.

Meanwhile, doubts are raised over the movement of large number of trucks beyond 6 pm and this has made the people wonder if there is any State machinery in place to control the flow of trucks carrying mineral ore.

While two wheelers always remained to be under the scanner of the men in uniform, the people are surprised over the truckers violating the norms laid down by the authorities and yet they allegedly failed to get punished by the authorities.
