Curchorem to have Goa’s second Sub-District Hospital

QUEPEM: Curchorem Community Health Centre with 82 beds, will be the second Sub-District hospital in Goa after Ponda, said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

Speaking at the function held to inaugurate the upgraded Curchorem Community Health Centre, he however said the second Sub-District Hospital will fructify after some time as the due processes have to be completed. He further cautioned the people that all the facilities will not be immediately available at the new premises but assured that they will be provided shortly through the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and local MLA Nilesh Cabral.

“There is a need to have more hospitals in Goa to reduce the strain on GMC,” he said while pointing out that the Curchorem centre will also have a dialysis unit.

While admitting that there was a financial constraint earlier, he said that the same has been overcome now and assured that all pending works in the constituency will be completed within the next three years.

“Nilesh Cabral has sacrificed the PWD ministership for the sake of the party and this sacrifice of his will not go waste,” he said.

Rane said he would try to make this hospital the second Sub-District Hospital within the next two days and assured that all the facilities will be provided within the next 6 months.

“We are trying to get private practitioners to work at government hospitals and have already tied up with Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai in this regard,” said Rane while assuring that emergency room and cardiac services will shortly commence at Curchorem.

Local MLA Cabral thanked the chief minister and health minister for providing the hospital to his constituency and pointed out that beside his constituency, this hospital will also benefit people from the neighbouring areas too as all the beds in it have piped oxygen supply facility.

“I was criticised for not inaugurating this hospital earlier, but the delay was because I did not believe in inaugurating without providing some basic facilities,” he said adding that he felt proud for providing such a good facility to his constituents.
