CURCHOREM: A 37-year-old woman from Capxem, Sanvordem jumped into river from the bridge connecting Curchorem and Sanvordem on Tuesday.
According to investigating officer PSI Arun Endro of Curchorem police, a person who was fishing near the banks of the river saw the woman swimming for a little distance after jumping from the bridge but suddenly disappeared in the water.
“The girl may be have come by a WegonR car which was found parked on the road near the old bridge.” said PSI Endro and informed that a wallet containing her snap and a mobile phone which was kept in the car has been recovered. Later in the evening, her father lodged a missing complaint at the police station.
Meanwhile, the rescue operation was on till late evening by the duty crew of the Curchorem Fire Emergency Services with the help of inflatable boat.
During the rescue operation it was noticed that the personnel from fire station failed to bring any focus light and were searching the body only with the help of two or three torches since the incident occurred in the late evening.
