Curdi sarpanch joins AAP

Says impressed by honesty of Delhi CM Kejriwal and how the party always puts people first in their governance

PANJIM: Curdi Panchayat Sarpanch Domacio Barretto on Tuesday joined Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre.

After inducting into the party, Barretto said that he was impressed by honesty of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and how the Aam Aadmi Party always puts people first in their governance.

He stated that the village of Curdi has been completely ignored by the BJP government and the residents are suffering because of this.

“It is only the politics of honesty of AAP that can save Goa,” claimed Barretto.

“Curdi village like most villages in Goa suffers from lack of connectivity via public transport, the youth who need jobs and students who don’t have adequate Internet connectivity for their online classes. The BJP government in its slumber has been doing nothing to help the villages, leaving them to languish behind and their youth to fall behind the rest of the world. The villagers who need the simplest things from ration cards to government schemes are made to run around by Sawant Sarkar’s babus making life difficult for the villagers,” he added.

“The AAP has aggressively reached to villages such as Curdi by providing services that the government refuses to, from Oximeter checking campaigns to ration in the time of COVID-19 pandemic. AAP Goa’s Oximitra Campaign reached out to Goenkars, who have been jobless and worried about the Coronavirus and needed guidance and to check their oxygen level. It was this honesty of purpose that attracted me to the party,” said Barretto.

“Youth have no jobs, students don’t have Internet to study and our village doesn’t even have public transport for basic commuting.  AAP despite not being in power has reached out to Goa’s villages providing ration and also medical services like Oximeters,, oxygen concentrators and cylinders too,” Barretto added.

“Barretto’s joining is another example of how social workers and Goenkars of all hues look to AAP as the only hope for Goa. They know that the BJP and Congress are not interested in protecting Goa,” said Mhambre.
