MAPUSA: Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo on Tuesday informed that the curfew will continue till zero positive cases and deaths are reported in the State.
“Cases are decreasing but that doesn’t mean people can move out. People should stay indoors to flatten the curve. Strict measures need to be taken by the police. By 12.30 pm people must return home. However, even at 2 pm, they can be seen moving and the police don’t act strictly”, Lobo said.
“Cases and deaths have to come down to zero till then curfew will keep on extending. People should buy essential items and stay indoors. Every work is important but above all life is precious,” Lobo explained.
Urging the locals to inoculate themselves, he said, “Vaccination is solution to this virus. Senior citizens and people above 45 are not ready to take vaccination because some think they will die but this is wrong as it has been proved by doctors internationally.”
On declaring Calangute as urban, Lobo said, “Calangute will continue to remain as village panchayat. Even if it is declared as urban, it won’t be turned into municipality and people will benefit when it progresses. Fifteen years ago, the village was declared urban but now it is notified”, Lobo informed.
Lobo also said the land prices in Calangute will not skyrocket if Calangute is declared as urban.
