Curra residents hit out at govt for failing to provide basic facilities

Rely on spring water to survive

MARGAO: The residents of Curra, Raia have hit out at the government for failing to provide them with basic facilities such as roads, water supply and electricity.

There are around 7-8 houses that are located near the Curra spring in Raia and the families who have been living there for years now, lamented that their pleas for help have fallen on deaf ears and that the authorities had chosen to ignore their grievances.

The villagers who rely on the spring water to survive said their biggest demand has been for proper water supply.

A lady resident, who is part of a large joint family that stays there, also gave examples of the difficulties they face in getting medical assistance and how they have had to carry a sick family member on a chair to the main road as ambulances cannot access their area.

The locals further added that they also reach late to work and that living with such problems takes a toll on their patience.

They added that they have been told about a plan to build a culvert, which would help them in the future but have not received any response on the other issues they have been raising.
