PONDA: The Curti locals on Tuesday demanded action against the houses releasing domestic and human waste in the open, at Deepnagar-Curti, Ponda.
The locals suspect that along with domestic, human waste is also released in the open at Deepnagar and Bablyakhali. There are chances of spreading dengue and other diseases. Even small pond is created on account of the wastewater release.
A local Sandeep Parkar said, “Earlier one patient also died in Curti after getting infected with dengue. Hence, the village panchayat and Health Department should look into the matter and inspect the Deepnagar area.”
“The Ponda Health Department had also disconnect water supply of 52 houses for releasing sewage in open at Deepnagar.”
Parkar said, “Most locals have rented out their houses to migrants but have failed to construct septic tanks, soak pits which has led to the release of domestic waste and even human excreta into the gutters and natural drains in the open inviting health hazard, spread of dengue and malaria.”
