PONDA: Curti-Khandepar locals have demanded action against the shopkeepers who have encroached on the gutters and a nullah in the village, which led to flooding in some houses after heavy rains there.
Locals Sandeep Parkar and Nilesh Parvatkar said that the flooding was due to encroachment on the gutters and a nullah in the village. “The panchayat should immediately take action against the erring shop owners,” they said.
Dumping of garbage into the gutters by the shopkeepers is adding to problem, with water flowing towards residential area. The locals also demanded that the panchayat clear the encroachment on footpaths and nullah to protect houses from flooding due to heavy rains.
