MARGAO: Curtorim deputy sarpanch Isabela Gomes e Rebello was on Monday voted out of office in a no confidence motion as seven of the 11 panchas voted in favour of the motion.
Isabela was the Acting Sarpanch as the Sarpanch Rupesh Naik had proceeded on a long leave and in fact had to cut short his leave due to Monday’s no-confidence motion.
The motion was moved by Judas Simon Barreto, Shubhangi Prabhu, Albertina Menezes, Akshata Korgaonkar, Rui Menezes and Nicholas Paes along with Rupesh, who chaired the meeting.
Isabela Gomes e Rebello, Milagres Rodrigues, Winnie V Carvalho Fernandes and Babi D Zore did not participate.
“We will now have to decide as to who will be the deputy Sarpanch,” said Rupesh adding that the other members were unhappy with the manner in which Isabela functioned as the acting sarpanch.
