MARGAO: The Curtorim gram sabha witnessed a heated debate on various issues including the mistakes in the minutes of the previous gram sabha meeting. The gram sabha also passed a resolution opposing the recent 39A amendment to the TCP Act.
The gram sabha members demanded that the recording of the minutes of previous gram sabha be examined in order to make the necessary corrections in the minutes of the previous gram sabha meeting.
The errors were attributed to the change in panchayat secretaries while the panchayat was asked to inform the Block Development Office (BDO) over this issue.
Another major discussion was over the budget for the next financial year with a large number of suggestions coming in. The panchayat’s limited expenditure was also criticised while demand was made for giving better provisions for agriculture.
It was also decided to carry out a garbage awareness drive in the village and to take action against roadside dumping of garbage as well as improving the existing garbage collection system.
There was also a discussion on the delay in setting up a permanent MRF shed in the village.
The contentious Biodiversity heritage site also came up that saw some disagreements over the ongoing controversy with the Curtorim Biodiversity Management Committee Chairperson strenuously denying allegations made against the BMC with regard to the BHS project.
