MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco on Tuesday demanded that the drinking water supplied through taps in Goa has to be checked thoroughly and a course correction has to be done on a war footing.
In a letter to the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Minister for Public Works Department Deepak Pauskar, he stated that even the packaged drinking mineral water sold in pan Goa needs to be thoroughly checked of its quality standards and all those indulged in the sale of spurious mineral water must be punished.
“It is given to understand that drinking water supplied in the houses of Goa is a polluted one with microplastic and one of the causative factors could be Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) pipes. Even pre-treated potable water whose main source is rivers are found to be contaminated with microplastic and is dangerous to the life of humans,” said Reginaldo.
